Thanks, Dawn, for this opportunity to share some memories. I used to work on Saturdays and Lynn would always cook dinner. One time she decided to make flan for dessert. She decided she needed a nap while the flan was in the oven. She slept longer than a "nap" and the flan got a little well done. It was quite chewy. But don't you know that we ate the darn thing because we didn't want it to go to waste. We had many laughs about the chewy flan afterwards. By the way, she taught me many of her cooking shortcuts. When Hondo was a baby and learning to talk, we were at Lynn's place on a Saturday evening. The phone rang and she asked me to answer because she was busy. If memory serves me right, it was Jack calling for "Aunt Evy". I was about to say he had a wrong number when Lynn heard me say Evy. I didn't know her name was Evelyn. I just knew Lynn. She quicky tells me it was a call for her. After she finished talking, I asked her about Evy. That's when she told me her name was Evelyn. Hondo heard Evelyn and started calling her Avalyn. She would always sign her cards to Hondo as Avalyn. I miss my best friend so much. It broke my heart to know she no longer had the twinkle in her pretty blue eyes.
